What is a Chemical Peel?

Chemical peels have been a skincare staple for decades. As a widely researched, safe, and effective way to target a range of skin concerns, they only continue to gain popularity.

This facial treatment involves using a chemical solution that targets the outer layer of skin, pathing the way for new skin cells to generate. This generation of new cells creates tighter, brighter, and smoother skin.

Here at Houston Injections, we offer all levels of peels — from superficial to medium to deep. Our peels are fully customizable based on your skin concerns, with the type of peel determined by the results you’re trying to achieve.

In addition to correcting color, texture, and skin elasticity, chimicals can also treat acne scars, hyperpigmentation, uneven skin tone, and wrinkles.

What is the Process for Receiving a Chemical Peel?

Consultation

Prior to receiving your peel, we’ll ask you to come in for a consultation with one of our providers. During this time, you’ll discuss your skin care goals, concerns, and your medical history. We’ll also assess your skin to determine that you’re a proper candidate for a chemical peel.

Once we’ve established this is the right treatment for you, we’ll determine the correct peel based on the information provided. We may also provide pre-care instructions for you to follow prior to your treatment, depending on the peel you’re receiving.

Day of Chemical Peel Treatment

On the day of your treatment, one of our providers will prep your skin by cleansing it. They’ll then apply the solution to your face with an applicator. The timing of how long the solution stays on the skin depends on the depth of the peel.

The provider will closely monitor the peel as well as any reactions you may have throughout the process.

Once the time is up, the provider will remove the peel. They will then give you instructions on how to take care of your skin following the treatment.

Chemical Peel Results

Results begin to set in immediately following your peel, with full results setting in a few weeks after. The amount of time the results last can vary and depend on several factors, however, they have been known to last up to a year.
